Mr. Lee Powers Pearce III's Obituary
Lee Powers Pearce III, age 75, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 in Hermitage, Tennessee. Lee was born on October 5, 1944 in Somerville, Tennessee.
He served his country in the Pacific Air Forces in Vietnam, 12 Supply Squadron, earning numerous commendations. He then settled down with his then-wife and two children in Memphis. He was employed at Commercial Credit (later Citicorp), where he soon became the branch manager. The family moved to Collierville, where he served as a Deacon, Adult Sunday School teacher, and Superintendent at the Assemblies of God Church. In addition to his deep involvement with the church, he enjoyed playing golf and raising his family.
Commercial Credit transferred him to Clarksville, where he continued his service to the Church in leadership positions. He was always handsomely attired in tailored suits, silk ties, pocket squares, and dress shoes.
Lee met Marty, the love of his life, in Nashville in 1994. They married in 1997 and settled down in Clarksville, then moved to Hermitage. Lee loved cars, especially Cadillacs, and their dog, Toy, who was like a child to him. After he retired in 2006, he said “every day is a Saturday” and enjoyed long walks with Toy, good bargains, yard work, clothes shopping, and yes, more Cadillacs.
Lee greatly enjoyed attending singer/songwriter events with Marty at Bluebird Café, Millennium Maxwell House Hotel, and Commodore Grille at Holiday Inn Vanderbilt. He also proudly attended Marty’s many public singing performances. Together, they socialized with many friends and family.
Most importantly, he deeply loved and cared for his family and friends—whether a best friend, a “Facebook” friend, or a stranger he met at the store. Lee was kind, immensely patient, and had a gentle sense of humor. He was a spark of joy, and generous of spirit.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Powers Pearce, Jr. and Pauline Thomas, and older sister, Annette Snow.
He is survived by his wife, Marty, his children Amber and Aaron Pearce, step-children Ricky and Chuck Cook, five grandchildren, one great grandson, and his sister, June.
He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends, too numerous to name.
He will be laid to rest, with military honors, at Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. Following the burial, a celebration of life service will be held at Living Waters Fellowship, 14665 Lebanon Road, Old Hickory, Tennessee.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chuck Cook, Ricky Cook, Trevor Cook, Aaron Pearce, Amber Pearce, and Tom Dutton.
Memorial contributions can be made in Lee’s honor to the Nashville Humane Society, 213 Oceola Avenue, Nashville, TN 37209.
Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery has been entrusted with the final care of Mr. Pearce.
