Lt. Col. Leland H. Gregory Jr.'s Obituary
Leland H. Gregory, Jr., February 22, 2019. Known by friends and family alike as “The Colonel”. A graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech) with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management and from The University of Colorado with a Master’s Degree in Management.
He served proudly in the United States Air Force for twenty-three (23) years-retiring in the grade of Lt. Colonel. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Meritious Service awards, seven Air Medals, and nine additional medals and awards.
He is a rated civilian pilot (in both land and sea) and a Master Navigator, a certified Contracting Officer, a Mason, Shriner, and a true Christian.
The Colonel is preceded in death by his father and mother Leland H. and Mildred “Honey” Gregory. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lela Virginia “Jenny” Gregory; son Leland Gregory, III; daughter Jo Christi (Kenneth Austin) Jones; grandsons Nicholas M. Gregory and Japheth A. Jones; great-grandson Conner A. Jones.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 26,2019 from 1-2pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Rd., Nashville, TN. Services will begin at 2pm in the Chapel at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
