Miss Linda Rippy's Obituary
God looked around His garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth and saw her precious face. God put His arms around her and on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 He lifted her to rest; God’s Garden must be beautiful because He always takes the best. Linda Sue Rippy was born, December 17, 1948 to the late Charlesetta Rippy Hughes and Oscar Blackmon. In 1976, Linda and the late Harold Duncan gave birth to their only son, the late Kyshaun K. Duncan. Linda was educated in Metro Davidson County Schools, graduated from Pearl High School in1967, attended Tennessee State University earning a degree in Business Administration. She was employed at Davidson County Tax Assessor's Office for many years until she became ill. At an early age Linda professed a hope in Christ, was baptized and united with King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church (Babb Memorial) under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Morgan Babb Linda had a love for fashion, jewelry, handbags, colorful nail polish and vanilla milkshakes. She loved to travel, frequently visiting her favorite place, San Diego, California. Her family was the love of her life and would keep her laughing for hours. Always putting others' needs before her own, she would always say “ok” when asked to do something. She never met a stranger and when spoken to she would always say “ok, what do you need” and “do you need any money? ”In her latter years she grew a love for the Tennessee Titans. On game days she was always dressed in her Titans apparel and cheering for her team. Linda is survived by her granddaughters, Kyshauna, Kenya and Kira Duncan: great granddaughters Jakiyah Malone and Kensley Peoples; sister Annette Dowdy; brother Zachary Hughes; nephews Joel (Shalonda) Rippy, Antonio (Rachel) Rippy, Michael (Tishana) Dowdyand Christopher (Charlon) Hughes; niece Stefanie Dowdy; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020; 4-8pm. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11 am; an additional visitation will be on Saturday from 10 am until 11 am at Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery.
