Mrs. Linda Armstrong Taylor's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ms. Linda Armstrong Taylor on May 28th, 2023, in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Linda was born on December 9th, 1938, in Belleville, Tennessee to James Harrison Armstrong and Margaret Elsie Swing Armstrong. She and her family moved to Shelbyville, Tennessee when she was a freshman in high school, and she graduated from Shelbyville Central High School in 1956. She met the love of her life, Wayne, and they were married for 62 years. She retired from DuPont after 36 years, and she and Wayne found immense joy in traveling to various locations, namely Hawaii, Alaska, the Bahamas, Las Vegas, and annual family trips to Florida. They were members of the Old Hickory Country Club and could dance the night away at various social events and family gatherings.
Linda was the definition of class and elegance, and was always fashionably dressed and put together. She was quiet and dignified, yet had the most infectious sense of humor. She had an excellent ear for music and could play the piano by simply memorizing the notes. She loved the Lord and was a member of Hermitage Hills Baptist Church, and even served as their Sunday school secretary for a couple of years. Her family was everything to her, and her grandchildren held the most special place in her heart. She and her sister, Jean, were the best of friends, often calling each other multiple times a day and taking care of each other until Jean’s passing. In addition to music, she had a great affinity for art and books. She was her most joyful self when she was tending her luscious garden. Her beautiful soul and radiant love will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved her, and she will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband Elbert Wayne Taylor; sisters Rachel (Arnold) Demonbreun and Jean (Jack) Bates; brother Max Armstrong; and brother-in-law Jack Whitaker. She is survived by her daughters Vicki (Curt) Bailey and Terry Lee Taylor; sister Marilyn Whitaker; grandchildren Kelsey (Dylan) Potter, Paige (Bryan) James, and Nick Bailey; great-grandchildren Tripp Potter, Luci Potter, and Hudson James; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
The family cordially invites friends and relatives to join in a time of visitation on Friday, June 2nd, 2023, from twelve o’clock in the afternoon until the cryptside service at two o’clock in the afternoon at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery. 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216.
Arrangements are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, “Where Nashville Comes to Remember.”
