Mrs. Lois Romano's Obituary
Lois Young (Robbins) Romano was born on December 26th at 2am 1923, wife of Retired Tsgt Air Force Benjamin R Romano, Daughter of the late Lillian Simpson Young Robbins Colton, RN of Wession Memorial Hospital Massachusetts, and granddaughter of the late Luella Spaulding Young of Massachusetts. A mother of 5; Lois Ella Robar of Hendersonville Tenn, Tina Warren of Spfld Mass, Kathy Ann Myers of North Carolina, Tsgt Benjamin R Romano Jr. of Hendersonville and Kenneth G Romano of Hendersonville. Grandmother of 11 and Great Grandmother of 21 and Great Great Grandmother of 1. A member of the Springfield Girl Scouts, the YMCA, and a conseller at Camp Ewen in Brimfield. Studied voice at the New England Conservatory of Music under Cora Huestis, piano with Francis Earle, and dance under Roma Del Serra. Graduated from Classical High and was employed at Steigers Mens' Shop, Springfield Mass. Graduated with a BSE from Westfield State teacher college Mass, and did post graduate work at New Paltz University N.Y. Taught elementary in Windsor, Conn., West Springfield, and Springfield Mass., and Kingston, Ellenville, and Poughkeepsie N.Y. Was a member of Kingston and Benedictine Hospital Staffs, a member of of the Madeley-Rogers Auxiliary to Post 574. Veterans of Foreign Wars, Plainville Conn, and the American Legion Auxiliary to Post 275 Charles C Kennedy in Chicopee Mass and life member of the VFW. A member of the Red Hats, and sang at rest homes with her church friends “Let Her Fly” choir. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Oak Garden of Bronze, Spfld, Mass. beside her beloved husband.
