Mrs. Lois Marlene Sloan's Obituary
It was a great honor to know Lois Sloan, or as we all knew her…Marlene.
Mom: The one person who loves you unconditionally without regard for her own needs and is always putting you first. That’s what moms do.
Marlene treated everyone that way. Not just her children. I have never heard anyone say they did not like Marlene. However, hundreds have told me what an angel she is, and what a positive impact she has had on their lives.
That was the kind of nurturing and caring person that she was. Marlene and her husband, Billy, would give you their last dime if they thought that you needed it. They knew that God would provide for them and that’s all they cared about, they just had to do their part.
Now, Marlene gets to reunite in heaven with her equally incredible husband Billy, the only man she ever loved, Sons, Billy Jr., and Tony, sister and best friend, Judy to celebrate her birthday in heaven. That will be some party! She is probably already taking care of everybody! She is eternally happy and that’s what matters.
She was a little person with a wonderful personality and a big heart! Marlene was truly “one of a kind.”
She said what she meant and she meant what she said. She never had personal agendas with her family or friends, that is why she was so trusted and loved by everyone she knew.
Marlene, although we will miss you, we all know that you went to heaven very happy with the way Shane’s life has turned out and what a great husband and father that you and Billy raised.
Marlene was completely surrounded by boys to raise when we were growing up. I know she always wanted a daughter.
Then god blessed her with one. Teresa became Marlene’s daughter in every way. What a beautiful and mutually rewarding mother and daughter relationship they had.
Teresa the pleasure and care you gave to Marlene throughout her life was so sweet and inspirational.
I know Marlene gets to go to heaven knowing she has left this world a better place after getting to enjoy Shayna exceeding all her dreams and expectations as a granddaughter.
Most of all, nanny’s proud Shayna’s such a good person.
Shayna , I know that you brought your grandmother much Joy and happiness, and allowed her to rejoice in a job well done and a real sense of satisfaction with her own life accomplishments. You made her life complete.
Most importantly, we all got to learn from Marlene’s example to trust God in the face of adversity and maintain your faith.
No matter how hard things got, Marlene never gave up on the Lord and she was richly rewarded on earth and in heaven. She never stopped helping people. Thank you Marlene for leading by example.
Because we say goodbye to her here today, I anticipated feeling incredibly awful. However, Marlene was such a great person, her passing totally reinforces my faith in God that we will be together again for eternity.
Marlene, we know that you expect us all to leave here today rejoicing in your passing and understanding that you are with God now, and you are happy and at peace. We will take the time to indulge in OUR loss….but tomorrow we will get out of bed and think of Marlene being healthy again, being reunited with loved ones, on the streets of Heaven. We Love you and will miss you Marlene, but we are so very glad you finally made it home. See you in Heaven mom.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 14 from Spring Hill Cemetery
