Mr. Lonnie Wilson's Obituary
Wilson, Lonnie Edward Age 89 passed way December 23 surrounded by family. Lonnie is survived by his daughter Cindy Wilson Oliva (John), son Chris Wilson, grandson Cooper Wilson and granddaughter Keaton Wilson. He is also survived by his sister Lucille Vaughn (Bobby), brother Vernon Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews. Lonnie was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Lila Maxedon Wilson and parents David and Ella Lee Wilson as well as brothers James, Raymond, Michael and Paul.
Lonnie was born November 29, 1930 in Nashville, TN where he graduated from East High School and was a member of the DECA club where he worked at First American National Bank before entering the US Airforce. He served at Sewart Air Force Base in Tennessee and Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa Japan soon after the end of WWII. Upon returning to civilian life, Lonnie worked briefly for the rail road in California before returning to Nashville to resume his career with First American and attend Peabody College. While at First American he met his wife Lila and started his family.
Lonnie was an active member of the Murfreesboro Optimist Club where he served in many leadership roles and was a supporter of the Optimist Relays each spring. Lonnie spent his free time on the golf course and was a talented left-handed golfer. Saturday mornings were spent on the golf course with his three brothers at Old Hickory Country Club for close to 40 years. When Lonnie retired as an executive vice president from First American after a 46 year career, he played golf every day, enjoyed working in the yard, telling jokes and hanging out with his grandchildren. After golf passed him by, Lonnie enjoyed the playing gin rummy with his pals at Old Hickory.
Visitation will be held from 12pm to 2 pm followed by the funeral at 2 pm on Monday December 30, 2019 at Spring Hill Funeral Home 5110 Gallatin Pike Nashville TN 37216.
