Ms. Loretta M. Foley's Obituary
Loretta M. Foley, 87, of Nashville, TN, passed away on October 18, 2018 at NHC Hendersonville after a short illness.
She was born August 29, 1931 in Howard, SD. She was the sixth of eight children of Joseph and Agnes (Thelen) Lauer. Loret is survived two daughters, Ann Foley (David) McFarlane of Prairie du Sac, WI and Peggy (Steven) Rammer of Nashville, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her former husband, William Foley, of Billings, MT, and three siblings, Gertrude Hagen, Bernard Lauer and James Lauer.
Loretta graduated from the Presentation School of Nursing in Aberdeen, SD in 1952. After graduation, she worked for the Veterans Administration; her career took her from Sioux Falls to Chicago to San Francisco.
In 1957, she married Bill Foley, a sweetheart from high school days. They moved to Billings, MT, made a home and raised their family there.
In 2010, Loret moved to Nashville to be closer to daughter Peggy and family. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Madison, TN. She volunteered with Ladies of Charity Nashville weekly.
Loret was charming, caring, creative and beautiful. She was an excellent seamstress, quilter, jewelry maker, decorator, and a great cook. She charmed children and adults alike, and made friends wherever she went. She was ladylike, but also hilarious.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 26, at 10:00 AM at at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Madison, TN. Visitation is Thursday, October 25, 5-7 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN. Family and friends are welcome to a gathering with refreshments at daughter Peggy’s house immediately after the service.
In addition, there will be a service for Loretta in Billings, Montana this summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Ladies of Charity Nashville.
