Lorraine "Lorri" Service's Obituary
Lorraine “Lorri” Service, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026. She was born April 18, 1944, in Butler, Pennsylvania, to Lorin and Gertie Mae Service.
Lorri had a lifelong love for animals and was rarely without a cherished companion. Dogs, cats, and birds each held a special place in her heart—though dogs may have had the slight edge. Among her many beloved pets, Sugar and Maggie were especially dear to her.
She proudly served her country in the Army National Guard, attaining the rank of Sergeant before her honorable discharge in the 1970s. During her service, she was stationed in Vietnam, an experience that remained a meaningful part of her life.
Following her military service, Lorri returned to Gallatin to be near her parents and sister. It was there she formed a lifelong friendship with Sara Dattilo, who became like family.
Lorri found joy in working outdoors and had a knack for tinkering with machinery. She took pride in maintaining her belongings, always keeping them clean, polished, and in good working order.
Known for her quick wit and warm personality, Lorri loved to laugh and to make others laugh. Whether sharing a humorous story or poking fun at herself, her contagious laughter and strong sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Those who have passed on before her are her parents, Lorin and Gertie Mae Service, and niece, Shay Jones.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are sister Gail (John) Drury, nephew Cameron Johnson, grandnieces and nephew, Wyatt, Ellie, Molly, and Kaylor, and best friend, Sara Dattilo.
