Mrs. Loyanne White Hardwick's Obituary
Loyanne White Hardwick was born on May 20, 1947 in Memphis, TN. Her family raised her there, and she often spent summers with her grandmother and close relatives on the family farm in Oxford, MS.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University, she helped many patients as a nurse. Before long, she was leading her department to ensure each nurse could help even more. Simultaneously nurturing while pushing everyone to improve, she sought and achieved both higher education, through a master's degree in nursing from South Carolina University, and general knowledge of the world which she in turn emphasized and passed to those around her throughout her life.
She eventually retired but never truly left nursing. Instead, she cared for her extended family and continually made new friends or reconnected with existing ones to share her love, light, and warmth as much as possible. This also led to her passion for travel, often with her college friends, the Vanderbelles, especially frequent trips to the beach with stops to visit along the way. Whatever the need - advice, food (what an amazing cook!), a sympathetic ear, or just a hand to hold - she was there.
Along the way, Loyanne also enjoyed a nearly 43-year marriage with her surviving husband, William Esthon Hardwick, and together they raised their surviving son, Craig Lloyd Hardwick. Her happiness only increased after welcoming to the family her daughter-in-law, Karla Perez Hardwick, and later her two grandchildren, Carina Iris Hardwick and Russell Matteo Hardwick, both of whom she tried to spoil relentlessly. Loyanne was preceded by her brother, Elbert Gregory, and is survived by her aunt, Louise Waller. She is also now blessedly reunited with her father, Lloyd Rodney White, and with her mother, Bessie Thompson White.
She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
