Mrs. Lucille Couch Allen's Obituary
Lucille Couch Allen, age 93 of Nashville, passed away on March 11, 2015. Lucille was born in McMinnville, Tennessee on July 20, 1921 to the late Perry and Florence Couch. Lucille was a loving wife, mother, Nannie, and friend to many.
Lucille was a member of Inglewood Baptist Church, and every Sunday, she would make a large meal and open her home to family and friends from the congregation. She also was proficient at sewing, specifically French hand-sewing. Using that technique, Lucille lovingly made dresses and John-John suits for each of her grandchildren for special occasions. She was also a quilter and made a quilt for each of her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry “Sonny” Allen; brothers, Bryan and Morris Couch; sister, Edith Couch Martin; and half-sister, Helen Couch Courtney.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol McDonald (Chris) and Susan Rodgers (Joe); son, Craig Allen (Doris); grandchildren, Julie Morris (Patrick), Mary Jane Charriere (Adam), Ashley Wood (Stephen), Allen Rodgers, Megan Allen (Eduardo), and Lauren Allen; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Rodgers, Lance Wood, and Evan Shea Allen-Lazaro.
Lucille’s family will receive friends and visitors on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 4pm until 8pm. Additional visitation will be on Monday, March 16, 2015 from 9am until 11am. Dr. Kevin Shrum will preside over a Celebration of Life Service to honor Lucille on Monday at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery, with family serving as active pallbearers. The members of the Friendship Class at Inglewood Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
