Lucy Buchanan's Obituary
Lucy May Buchanan, age 89, passed away peacefully and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Born on August 12, 1936, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, she was the beloved daughter of the late Elbert and Myrtle Buchanan. Lucy later made her home in Nashville, where she lovingly raised her family.
She was preceded in death by her son, Terrance “Terry” Buchanan; her parents; her sister, Ann Chappell; and her sister by love, Mary “Madea” Richardson.
Lucy is survived by her devoted daughter, Rita Buchanan-Williams (Joseph Sr.); her goddaughter, Latasha Patterson; grandchildren, Jameia (Chris), Sharmeia (Andre Sr.), Le’Torreia, Hydeia, Joseph Jr., Maccell, and Terrance; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A dedicated mother and grandmother, Lucy’s family was the heart of her life. She worked for over 50 years at Dan’s Grill on 8th Avenue in Nashville, where she was known for her incredible cooking and warm spirit. She had a passion for shopping for beautiful flowers and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her legacy of love, strength, and generosity will live on through her family.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Kenneth L. Richardson and family members will officiate the service.
