Ms. Lyla Ray Smithson's Obituary
Lyla Ray Abernathy Smithson of Hendersonville, TN passed away on March 27, 2021 in Sumner County. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie B. Ray and Mattie Nichols Ray; husbands, Thomas E. Abernathy, Alvin J. Smithson; son, David Abernathy; son-in-law, Martin Sandor, and her special canine companion Socks .
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Sandor; sisters, Betty Weatherholt, Jeanette (George) Bailey; grandchildren, Taynna (Johnny) Douglas, Tammy (Jason) Bowers, David Tarron Abernathy, Tara (Wesley) Fort; sisters-in-law, Florine Magness, Becky (Calvin) Wheeler; brother-in-law, Richard (Nana) Smithson. She is also survived by ten loving great-grandchildren.
Lyla was a very special person who simply loved other people. She never met a stranger, and could talk to anyone. A homemaker for most of her life, she loved nothing more than to spend her time with her family. She also very much liked to travel and was especially fond of the mountains.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 11am at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 9am to 11am at Spring Hill Funeral Home.
