Mabel Dillon's Obituary
Mabel Ford Dillon left on the wings of Angels and ascended to Heaven on December 22, 2016.
She is now reunited with her family, friends, and a host of “fur kids” in Heaven where they all are so happy and excited to see her including Kiki, Rhett, Scarlett and her “Grand dog – Gracie”. Her fur kids left behind are Butler and Cutie Pie. She is especially excited to see her sister, Edath, who greeted her with open arms to welcome her home in Heaven.
She is survived by her best friend and daughter, Debbie Dillon, who knows she has a new Guardian Angel to watch over her. What an incredible time and journey we have had together and I will miss her sense of humor, compassion, grace, kindness and cooking skills.
Mother was retired from State Auto where she worked as an Insurance Adjustor for 18 years. After retirement, she and her daughter traveled to Europe and all across the US for many years where they explored new places and experienced wonderful adventures. She was a member of Inglewood Baptist Church where she attended for most of her life. She was a member of the Red Hatter Society. She volunteered at Tennessee Christian Hospital for many years. She was an avid reader who could read 3-4 books in a week and numerous trips were made to the Madison Library.
Mother was an excellent cook and hostess with impeccable taste. She would gather listings of new restaurants and she always wanted to try a new restaurant or recipe. Everything had to match on her table settings and linen napkins were a must for her. She has bookshelves full of cookbooks. She changed her rooms and table settings based on the seasons. She loved her animals and always fed the squirrels, birds and of course many cats over the years. Her flowers were always beautiful and she took enormous pride in being outside to enjoy them.
Mother was the epitome of a “Southern Lady” who was a friend to all and gracious to everyone who knew her. Cara Bobinger is one of the special friends who always made Mother laugh and was her friend, her confidant and always there for her. Jeff Herbold who knew Mother for 20+ years had a very special place in her heart and she thought of him as her son. He was always there for her and made an enormous difference in her life and she loved him very much. There are many people who helped take care of her, but Terrye Rish was a special guardian Angel who helped her as she lived her final time here on earth. In addition, Cynthia, Ariel, and Erica were her caregivers who took care of her, laughed with her, and made sure that she enjoyed every day possible over the last year.
Mother was also survived by two sons, Chuck (Janet) and Wayne (Liz) Dillon and 6 Grandchildren.
Please join me in a celebration of her life during visitation on December 29, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Her funeral will be on December 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. til 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Springhill Cemetery.
You may make a donation in her name to the local public library or the Animal Shelter of your choice.
