Ms. Mamie Alleen Hunter's Obituary
Ms. Mamie Aleen Hunter, age 102 of Madison, Tennessee passed away on October 2, 2021. She was born on April 19, 1919 to the late Lee and Nan Jernigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Hunter, six brothers, one sister, and son-in-law Louis Kleber. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Kleber, granddaughters Andrea Kobelia (Brian) and Denise Carter (Jim Clark), great-granddaughters Rachel Parsons (Bryan) and Katie Lanham (Jaime), two great-great-granddaughters, four great-great-grandsons, and her very special friend Brenda Rector.
Mamie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong member and contributor of Neelys Bend Church of Christ. She owned and operated the Hunter’s Bi-Rite grocery store with her husband Roscoe for 15 years. After that she went on to manage and buy for the gift shop at Tennessee Christian Hospital for 20+ years, where she earned numerous awards for the countless hours she spent volunteering there.
A visitation for Ms. Hunter will be held on Tuesday October 5 from 4pm-8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday October 6 at 12pm, with the family receiving visitors for two hours prior to the service. Entombment in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery’s Serenity Chapel Mausoleum will be private.
