It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Marcia Lee Banas on February 9th, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Marcia was born in Cookeville, Tennessee to loving parents Albert Johnson and Norma Wright Johnson. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her family was her passion and she loved to travel a great distance to be together with extended family members. She had a servant’s heart and found her calling as a licensed practical nurse for many years. In addition to caring for others as a nurse, she enjoyed crocheting with her crochet club, both at home and at sea on cruises! As a youth, she loved to move and groove on roller skates. She could also be found curled up with a good book almost every day. Her humor and luminous smile could bring warmth to any room she walked into. Her family fondly remembers her famous saying, “I didn’t forget, I just can’t remember!” Her beautiful spirit and legacy will live on among those she leaves behind.
Marcia is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Norma; stepfather William Mitchell; and sister Laura Hendley. She is survived by her loving husband Michael Banas; children John Banas and Lisa Ray; grandson Mitchell Scott; step-grandchildren Toni and William Ray; sister Cindy Estes; brothers David Johnson, John Johnson, and Jimmy Johnson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
The family cordially invites guests and relatives for a time of visitation on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, from ten o'clock in the morning until twelve o'clock in the afternoon, with a memorial service and inurnment to follow at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216.
Final arrangements for Mrs. Banas are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "Where Nashville Comes to Remember."
