Ms. Margaret Young Milam's Obituary
Margaret Young Milam was born on May 16, 1921 and died August 17, 2019 at the age of 98.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy Moxley Young and Edwin Young; her husband of 54 years, John S. Milam, Jr; and her sister, Edith Ann Young Hogue.
She is survived by her sons Roger Arling (Margy) Milam, John S (Vicki) Milam III, and Edwin Young Milam; grandchildren Erik (Michelle) Milam, Jansen (Christine) Milam, Laine (Sammie) Milam Arnold, Aaron (Rachel Gessert) Milam, Sarah (Sean) Milam Stringfellow, Meghan (Dillon Orr) Milam, and Mara Milam; and seven great grandchildren with an eighth on the way.
Margaret graduated from East High School in 1938, Ward-Belmont in 1940 and Vanderbilt University in 1942 where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She was raised in St. Ann’s Episcopal Church and later became a charter member of St. George’s Episcopal Church.
She was a homemaker who excelled in music and loved to garden. In her early years she worked at St. Luke’s Community House and Fannie Battle Day Home. She later became a member of Centennial Club, Cheekwood, Frist Center and was a charter member of Hillwood Country Club.
Margaret was truly a beautiful southern Christian lady who loved everyone she met and they loved her back!
Visitation will be Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 1 PM till 2 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 2 PM officiated by Rev. Roger Senechal. Entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery Serenity Mausoleum.
