Mrs. Margaret Ann Carman Norfleet's Obituary
Margaret Ann Carman Norfleet, age 89 was transferred to the Church Eternal at 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 surrounded by her four adult children at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on March 1, 1929 in Franklin, Kentucky but spent her childhood and adult years in the Nashville area. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Garner Earl Norfleet, her parents Bethel Pierson Carman and Celia Wade Carman, siblings Jerry Wade Carman, Doris Gilbertine Carman, Lois Carman Booth, James Richard Carman, Bethel P. Carman, Jr., and Jesse Lee Carman. She is survived by her pet companion Mulley, four children, Teresa Uselton Hogue (Skip) of Lebanon, Tennessee, Carman Earl Norfleet (Katie) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Douglas Neil Norfleet (Ashley) of Union City, Tennessee, Tonya Marie Norfleet of Nashville, Tennessee, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, her brother, Alton Cecil Carman of Maryville, Tennessee, brother-in-law’s Melvin Norfleet of Cross Plains, Tennessee and Larry Norfleet of White House, Tennessee, an abundance of nieces and nephews, and Brenda Newman Alcorn, a very special life-long friend of the family from Joelton, Tennessee. Margaret was raised in rural north Davidson County in the Jordonia community on the Whistling Creek Dairy Farm where she lived for 78 years before the decline of her health. She was a bus driver for Metro-Nashville Schools for 27 years and spoke fondly of the many friendships she developed with fellow bus-drivers, students, and their families. After her retirement she worked briefly as a greeter at the Charlotte Pike Wal-Mart in Nashville. She was a life-long Methodist, a member of Jordonia United Methodist Church and in 1996 was elected Worthy Matron in the Center Pointe Chapter #342 of The Order of the Eastern Star. She loved the outdoors, enjoyed mowing the lawn and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Spring Hill Funeral Home located on Gallatin Pike in Nashville from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Jordonia United Methodist Church located at 4225 Cato Road in Nashville. The service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Jordonia United Methodist Church and officiated by Rev. Rose Mary Brown. Family and friends will then return to the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery for a service on internment. Pallbearers will be Bill Norfleet, Harry Parsons, Jacob Norfleet, Jalen Hogue, Jaron Norfleet, Kyle Uselton, Mark Norfleet, Matthew Uselton and Sasha Norfleet. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery are handling the arrangements.
