Margie Ann Covington's Obituary
Margie Ann Covington, age 64, of Hendersonville, TN; passed away on August 5, 2012. She was a member of the Baptist faith. Margie was an accomplished educator holding dual Master's Degrees. Her teaching career spanned 39 years including 20 years at McGavock High School. Her many accomplishments included recognition as teacher of the year for the Metro Public School System. Ms. Covington's love for teaching and positive influence nurtured a very special relationship with Sabrina Edwards and Donald Reed, who are considered part of the extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Zona Kemper, brothers, Elvis Martin Kemper and Walter Miller Kemper, and sister, Lucy Gertrude Petersen. She is survived by her special friend, Nancy Heaney, brothers, Robert E. Kemper Jr., William Thomas Kemper and Paul Larry Kemper, sisters, Margaret Fykes, Ruth Grandbois and Barbara Anderson. Active pallbearers will be Robert Carrillon, Robert Troutt, Edward Kemper, James Kemper, George Highers and Donald Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Kemper, David Kemper, William Fykes and Dale Grandbois. Visitation will be held on Tuesday August, 7, 2012 from 4-8pm, and again on Wednesday, from 12-8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be conducted on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 1pm, with Tim Anderson officiating, and a final visitation will be held from 10-1pm prior to the service on Thursday in the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Margie's honor to St. Jude children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 .
