Mrs. Marie Emmeline Myers Clement, RN's Obituary
Marie Emmeline Myers Clement, RN, age 93, of Madison, TN, passed away on March 24, 2015. She was born in Tylertown, MS, grew up in Amite, LA, and spent many years of her life in Hattiesburg, MS before moving to Madison, TN. She was married to Marvin A. Clement for 64 years, and they raised three children.
She attended LSU and became a registered nurse. She trained at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, LA, and worked there for several years. She worked at the Tylertown Hospital in MS for 8 years. She then joined the staff at Hattiesburg Clinic in MS where her dedicated professionalism, leadership skills, and caring personality propelled her to Nurse Supervisor of the surgery department where she was honored for outstanding service and served there until retirement in 1987. Marie was an active member of FBC Hattiesburg for over 40 years where she sang in the Senior Adult Choir. For many years she enjoyed participating in Senior Olympics. In 2008, she moved to Madison, TN to be closer to family. She became a member of Dickerson Road Baptist Church, and was a resident at Maybelle Carter Retirement Home.
She is survived by Marvin A. Clement (husband), Jessica Myers Corman (sister), Lorraine C. Chopin (sister in law), Christy C. Quarles (daughter), and Marie C. White (daughter) who all remember her laughter, singing, storytelling and her great sense of humor. She is also survived by Joseph D. Reid (grandson), Leanne Marie Reid (granddaughter), Elizabeth W. Tellado (granddaughter), Sarah Marie White (granddaughter), Keith D. White (grandson), Brett T. White (grandson), and Rilie Reid (great granddaughter), Garry Quarles (son-in-law), Gary White (son-in-law), Bryan Tellado (grandson-in-law), four step-granddaughters: Elizabeth Quarles, Emily Q. Futch and Rick (husband), Caitlin Q. Crawford and Cameron (husband), Hannah Quarles, step great grandsons Jakson Valenta and Hudson Futch, step great granddaughter Presley Futch, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Dan Alan Clement, two brothers and a sister.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11:30 at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, MS. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service at Moore Funeral Home. The family will be staying at Hilton Garden Inn in Hattiesburg and will host a reception there immediately following burial.
