Marie H. Patterson's Obituary
Marie H. Patterson, 97, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023. She was preceded in death by husband, William C. “Pat” Patterson, Sr., her parents, Henry and Estelle Hensley, two siblings, Alameda Harris and Wayne Hensley, a son-in-law, Julian E. Dye and a step-grandson, Kerry J. Dye.
Mrs. Patterson is survived by two children, Gayle Dye and William C. “Bill” Patterson, Jr., three grandchildren, Melinda (Jason) Venable, Melody (Koda Smith) Patterson and Lindsey (Ryan) Priddy, a step-grandson, Jim (Shore Griffin) Dye, and a sister, Sunshine Scruggs.
Mrs. Patterson was born and raised in Trenton, Tennessee. After graduation from Peabody High School in Trenton at the age of 17, she got on a bus and came to Nashville not knowing anyone, to attend Draughons Junior College. Shortly after arriving in 1944, she began attending Lockeland Baptist Church where she has been a faithful member until her death.
She met her husband, Pat Patterson, in November of 1946 and they were married in March of 1947. They were the perfect example of a loving Christian couple. She adored him and has been ready to go to heaven since his death in 1995.
She fiercely adored and loved her children and grandchildren. She loved talking to friends on the phone and keeping up to date with them.
The family cordially invites relatives and friends to a time of sharing on Tuesday, October 17 from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 18 at twelve noon with an hour of visiting prior to the service. Dr. Terry Terry will be officiating. The committal service will immediately follow the funeral at the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Church at Lockeland Springs or the charity of the donor’s choice.
