Marilyn Clemmons' Obituary
Our beautiful grandmother passed away peacefully this week at 90 years old. Though her earthly vision faded many years ago due to a genetic condition, called retinitis pigmentosa her faith, wisdom, and fierce independence never dimmed. She was one of the most intelligent and strong-willed women I’ve ever known. She loved Jesus and trusted Him through every hardship. Even after losing her sight, she continued living with resilience and grace. And now, she’s seeing the fullness of His glory — no more pain, no more limits, just light and peace. She loved her family, her friends, and her church with her whole heart. Those relationships were at the center of her identity — she remembered every birthday, every name, every need. Her community was sacred to her, and she gave so much of herself to the people she loved. One of her greatest joys in life was music — she was a proud marching band drummer in high school, and she always said those were the happiest days of her life. That love of music didn’t stop with her — it flowed through her daughter, grandchildren, and now into her great-grandchildren. She also had the deepest love for animals — especially her dogs. No matter how little she had or how much she was going through, she always put her pets first. She nurtured them with a kind of selfless devotion that made a lasting impression on me. She believed that all animals deserve to be loved and cared for.
Funeral Services for Ms. Clemmons will be held at Richland Freewill Baptist Church on Friday, August 29, 2025, with Bro. Outlaw officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 9am until the hour of service at the church.
