Marilyn J. Rhett's Obituary
Marilyn J Kelly Rhett, age 68, of Madison, TN, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christine and Arthur Kelly. She is survived by three sons, Jo, Robert, and James Rhett; three sisters, Edith Kelly Guyer, Christina Kelly Raymond, and Janette Kelly; two brothers Lawrence and Kenneth Kelly; and 6 grandchildren: Isaac, David, Rachel, Madelyn, Abigail, and Cyrus Rhett.
Mal (her preferred nickname) was a lifelong Catholic. After raising 3 sons by herself, and then taking care of her own mother until her death, she made her first life choice on where to live... and moved to Nashville, TN to be part of the music scene. For years you could find her most every night at the Bluebird Cafe, the Commodore, and many other small cafes. She loved watching new artists develop and grow their craft. She was feisty and engaging, making friends everywhere she went. Her family came to Nashville to be with her in her final days. She lost consciousness surrounded by all three of her sons, her siblings, and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Friends and family are requested to meet at Saint Joseph Church at 12 noon on Saturday, August 31 for visitation. A funeral mass will be held at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to YWCA of Nashville at https://www.ywcanashville.com/get-involved/donate/ or 1608 Woodmont Boulevard, Nashville, TN 37215.
