Mark Stanton Fitzhugh's Obituary
Mark Stanton Fitzhugh, age 57 of Brentwood, TN passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012 in Nashville. Mark was born on February 1, 1955 to William Owen Fitzhugh and Florence Lillian McAdams Fitzhugh. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Scott Payton Fitzhugh and William Allen Fitzhugh; father-in-law, Nickolas Konstantinopoulos; brother-in-law, George Tallidis. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Konstantinopoulos Fitzhugh; mother-in-law, Eva Konstantinopoulos; sister-in-law, Maria Tallidis and nephews, Connor Brittian Fitzhugh, Nicholas Tallidis, Louis Tallidis and many cousins. Mark was a native Nashvillian. He graduated from Hillwood High School where he was a star football player and wrestled. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. During college, Mark was employed by Southwestern Company where he was one of their top summer agents and returned the following year as a student manager. Mark’s began his career with Hilti Corporation in 1979 as a Sales Representative. Mark excelled in sales and was promoted to Key Accounts Executive, Area Manger and subsequently to the position of Regional Manager. During his Hilti career Mark lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Marietta, GA and Richmond VA. In 1992 he transferred with Hilti to Toronto, Canada where he met his wife, Anna, to whom he was a devoted, loving husband for 17 years. In Toronto, Mark served as Regional Sales Manager, Marketing/Product Manager and in 1997 he relocated to Vancouver, Canada as Division Manager. On many occasions, Mark was the recipient of the President’s Sales Club Award and President’s Council Award. In 2000, Mark and Anna relocated to Nashville where Mark assumed the role of Strategic Business Director for Hilti. He retired from Hilti after 25 years of service and became actively involved with his wife in the operation of their seven Curves franchises located in the Greater Nashville area. Mark served as the President of Middle Tennessee Curves Co-op for many years. He was a member of the Franklin Breakfast Rotary Club and in 2006 he was co-chair of Operation Starfish, which celebrated a fundraising record that year. Mark was also a proud Republican and served as a Precinct Captain in 2004. Mark enjoyed travel; he loved animals, especially his dog Candy, and was an avid golfer. He was a member of The Governor’s Club and shared many happy days on the course with his friends. Mark leaves behind many friends who are deeply saddened by his passing. He never met a stranger and will be remembered by all for his wit, selflessness and compassion for others. A funeral and celebration of Mark’s life will be conducted 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brentwood, TN with Deacon Ronald Deal, Jr., presiding. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church with a Vigil service to follow the visitation period. Committal service and interment will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 15, 2012 in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
