Mrs. Marsha Gray Basore's Obituary
Marsha Gray Basore passed away on January 21, 2022 from complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Marsha was born in Orleans, Indiana on May 29, 1944 to Wiley & Sue Gray. She grew up in Pewee Valley, Kentucky. She was a graduate of Oldham County High School and House of James School of Cosmetology. Marsha came to Nashville in 1964 where she met and fell in love with Stu Basore, her husband of 52 years. As a self-proclaimed “domestic engineer,” Marsha devoted her time to being a supportive wife and loving mother. After her daughters were grown, Marsha became a manager within Music Valley Museums and Attractions. Her time spent there allowed her to network in both the entertainment and tourism industries. She even helped create Music Valley’s very own “Walk of Fame.” She proudly held this position until retirement.
Being a domestic engineer gave Marsha the opportunity to do things she enjoyed, such as crafting, fishing, travelling, and volunteering. From years of PTA, to serving as the Band Booster President for Madison High School, she loved being involved, especially when it came to her daughters. Her supportive nature was further heightened in her granddaughter’s life. She showed up in every way a grandmother can - cheerleader, teacher, friend and hero.
Marsha was a 2-time lung cancer survivor. Fighting cancer was another passion of hers. She spent a decade supporting and volunteering for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Marsha was a strong woman. Her spunky spirit is what made her special. She was our Golden Girl!
In addition to her parents, Marsha is preceded in death by her husband, Stu Basore.
Marsha is survived by daughters Kelly B. Milam and Rebecca Michelle (Michael Wayne) Martin; and grand-daughter Margaret “Maggie” K. Milam. Also, 3 sisters, 1 brother, 1 brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
