Marshal Dean Horton's Obituary
Marshal Dean Horton
June 1st, 1958 – January 31st, 2026
Supportive, kind, and patient, Marshal Dean Horton shaped daily life through gentle compassion rather than grand gestures. Friends and family describe him simply as a great family man who showed up whenever he was needed.
Born in Nashville, TN, Marshal carried those steady qualities from childhood into every season of his life. He found joy in travel, especially on trips to the beach, where the open horizon seemed to match his calm outlook.
Marshal’s devotion to his family guided most of his choices. He took special care of his wife of 49 years, Susan Horton, and was always present for his son, Peyton (Jennifer) Horton, celebrating each milestone with quiet pride.
Faith also anchored Marshal’s days. As a member of Walter Hill Church of Christ, he shared patient listening and kind gestures with his church family, offering steady support without seeking attention.
He is remembered with love by his brother Rubin Horton, sister Kim (Barton) Rowe, and brother Mike Horton. Marshal now joins his late brother Ryan Horton and parents Melvin and Lola Horton, whose memories remain close to those who knew them.
Travel journals, simple beach photos, and moments of warm conversation keep Marshal’s legacy alive. Each memory reminds us that lasting impact often begins with a supportive heart and patient presence.
Family and friends will remember Marshal’s steady kindness in their own quiet ways. May every gentle act we share going forward reflect the care he offered throughout his life.
