Mrs. Martha Sue Griggs' Obituary
On behalf of the staff at Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, we are honored to be serving the Griggs family, but saddened to announce the passing of Mrs. Martha Sue Griggs on July 23rd, 2022.
Martha was born on February 6th, 1924 in Clarksville, Tennessee to the late William Lloyd Smith and Ada Frances Rye Smith. She was a lifelong member of the Nashville First Church of the Nazarene, where she took on numerous roles such as a teacher, choir member, pianist, missionary, etc. She was an impeccable homemaker, seamstress, and gardener. She was an avid reader of anything and everything, from romance, to history, to inspirational titles, and beyond. She loved her family and was very active with her great-grandchildren in her later years. Martha was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents William and Ada; her beloved husband of 78 years Maurice; and granddaughter Julie Inman. She is survived by her children William Griggs (Beverly) and Rebecca Inman; grandchildren Carter Griggs (Jenny) and Suzanne Johnson (Anthony); and great-grandchildren Nolan Griggs and Ada Griggs.
A graveside service will take place on Thursday, July 28th, 2022, at 3:30 pm at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "Where Nashville Comes to Remember."
