Martha Lucille Shipman's Obituary
SHIPMAN, Martha Lucille, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. She was preceded in death by her sister, Faye Smith Wills and her parents, George and Pearl Smith who were the owners of the Handy-Andy Restaurant in Madison. She was a 1948 graduate of Isaac Litton High School, a member of the Page Heights Baptist Church where she was very active in the music program. She sang Gospel music with several different groups and was an avid bowler. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lamar Shipman; son, Brian (Teresa) Shipman; grandchildren, Rachel (Erik) Anschicks, James Shipman, Michael Shipman and her Godchild, Amy Wooten. Her family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Thursday January 24 at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 25 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Glynn Wiggins officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to the American Heart Association.
