Mary Agnes Collins, age 88, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 in Nashville, TN. Mary Agnes was born on November 30, 1931 the daughter of Carl and Rosa (Parker) Bruce.
Mary Agnes married Charles Collins on April 7, 1954 and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2012. Mary Agnes was a hard worker her entire life. She began working in a shirt factory in LaFollette, Tennessee, right out of high school, then later retired from Hancock Fabrics after she married and had moved to Nashville. She was best known for her excellent cooking especially her chicken and dumplings and many cakes as well as her cornbread. Mary Agnes was known as Nanny by all of her grandchildren and anyone who knew her well. She was a very kind woman who always had a welcoming home to anyone who needed a hot meal or a place to stay. Mary Agnes will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her.
Mary Agnes is survived by her daughter Teresa Sweeney (Michael), grandchildren Rosa Lynn Bradley (Kevin), Neal Logue and Lauren Rose Collins. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Anthony Bradley, Shelby Bradley (Caspar), Kelly Bradley (Jose Rodriguez), Kaitlin Logue, Kamryn Logue and one great-great grandchild Emma Bradley.
Mary Agnes was preceded in death by her daughter Lorili Parker, her son Billy Collins, her brothers Clayton Bruce, Ebert “Beeb” Bruce and E.F. Bruce.
Private family services are being held. Burial will take place in the historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
