Ms. Mary Jean Doctor's Obituary
Ms. Mary Jean Doctor, age 93 of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on June 30, 2021. She was born on September 5, 1927 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Jim and Myrtle Cavanaugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Carl O. Doctor Jr., and siblings Arlene Cavanaugh, Patricia Wadland, Jack Cavanaugh, Audran Cavanaugh, and Suzanne Taylor, as well as son-in-law Edmund Pitt. She is survived by her children Mary Melton (Tommy), Carol Doctor, Linda Pitt, and Carl Doctor III (Dorothy), grandchildren Tiffany Melton, Nathan Melton, Jeniffer Pitt, Benjamin Pitt, Anna Pitt, and Stephanie Martin (Rick), and great-great-granddaughter Mary Ashley Melton.
Mary was a very family and faith oriented lady, she loved her children and grandchildren, and never missed a Sunday church service. She worked for a number of years as a Long Distance Telephone Operator with AT&T before retiring in 1993. After her retirement, Mary and Carl spent a lot of their time traveling and camping, which they both enjoyed greatly. Mary was well loved and will be deeply missed.
A Funeral Mass for Ms. Doctor will be conducted at Church of the Holy Rosary in Donelson on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 10:30am. Following the Funeral Mass, a visitation will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home from 12pm-2pm, with a Time of Remembrance beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
