Ms. Mary Jean Hayes Duncan's Obituary
Jean Hayes Duncan, 84, passed away March 11, 2019, after a 15 year battle with breast cancer. She was born November 11, 1934, in Nashville, TN, to the late Allen and Anna Hayes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Carl Duncan; grandsons, Jacob and Daniel Spears; sisters Ann Hayes Craddock, Ruth Hayes Goddard, Elizabeth Hayes Dedmon, and Frances Hayes Harris.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Duncan Spears; grandson, William Spears; granddaughters, Micah Spears and Savanah Spears; great granddaughter, Maddilyn Spears-Hodges; brothers, Jack and Arvelia Hayes, James “Gabby” and Linda Hayes; and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was baptized at Grace Avenue Church of Christ and dedicated her life to serving her savior. She worked at Madison Church of Christ for 40 years.
She was rarely seen without a smile on her face. Even when she was in the greatest pain, she was kindness, courage, and grace itself. She was the most devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Visitation will be Friday, March 15, from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 16, 12 PM at Madison Church of Christ Bixler Chapel 106 Gallatin Pike N, Madison, TN 37115. Family will receive friends and visitors one hour prior to funeral services. Entombment will follow at the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
Pallbearers will be Chris Conder, Tommy Goddard, Frankie Harris, Stevie Harris, Lee Hayes, and Mark Nickell.
Honorary pall bearers will be Jack Hayes, Gabby Hayes, Thomas Goddard, Woody Harris, James Rupley, Joe Roberts, John McCollum and the Elders of the Madison Church of Christ.
Services will be officiated by Dr. C. Bruce White and Dr. Russ Corley.
