Mrs. Mary Alice Garton's Obituary
Mary Alice Garton, age 77 of Nashville, was united with our Lord and Savior on November 28, 2013. Known to many as “Grandmama”, Mary was a devoted wife, mother of 5, and grandmother to many.
Throughout her life, Mary chose child-care as her career, keeping and loving numerous children for nearly 50 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, H.E. and Alice McMahon and husband of 50 years, Rex E. Garton, Sr.
She is survived by her children; Rex E. (Sandra) Garton, Jr, James (Elizabeth) Garton, David L. (Peggy) Garton, Gloria (Robert, Sr.) Cowell, & Michael (Angela) Garton; siblings; Richard McMahon, Jere McMahon, Robert McMahon, Anne Longhurst, Gayle Clark, Belinda Harris; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Olive officiating. Entombment will follow in the Serenity Mausoleum in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2nd from 3-8 P.M. and on Tuesday from 9 A.M. until service time at 11 A.M.
