I just got around to reading this past Sunday's Tennessean, I am so glad I did it today & not any later, because I spotted Mary Ann's name in the obits. I looked at the name 3 or 4 times to make sure I was seeing the name of my most wonderful Nashville Palace coworker & good friend & not someone with a similar name.
I have wondered hundreds of times how she was doing, where she was living, hoping someday, someway I'd get to see her again & catch up. How sad I am to hear of her passing, I don't think either of us ever meant to fall out of touch & not talk on the phone or perhaps meet up somewhere to visit, but life happens, people move around, move on, just go on with their lives, not meaning to leave a friendship unattended or behind. It just happens. Here she was up in Gallatin & I'm in Hendersonville, so close but so far! I don't do facebook or any social sites, perhaps I could have found her there & rekindled our great friendship. Out of touch NEVER meant out of mind when it came to Mary Ann for me.
Enough moping, shoulda, woulda, coulda.....
Boy did we have some fun at the Palace!!!!!!!! She was the best to work with! We'd be losing our minds busy as all get out & she'd make some wisecrack, or wise observation & we'd be rolling in fits of laughter! She was a keen observer of people, & wise, & very protective of those of us she cared for & trusted. She was honest & straightforward, but very diplomatic. It was an honor to be her friend, she was very caring & kind to not just me but many others we worked with. And she had a roaring laugh when someone (Arthur I'm talkin' bout you) would crack her up. It was infectious, you had to laugh along, she'd throw her head back & let it rip, my face is hurting from just recalling those memories. This was some kind of great lady!!!!! I will surely miss you dearly my sweet sweet friend, I'll never forget the likes of you-haven't yet despite not seeing you in years.
You'll always be very special to me, I have missed you dearly, thought about you so many, many times! I will love you always my friend.
To her family, please accept mine & Harry's condolences on the loss of you Mom (hello Lorraine), and to her grandson, & great grand kids, she meant alot to me & will be missed by so many.
