Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Menees' Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Menees, age 93, of Madison, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, September 03, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joel and Willie Oakley; husband William Bruce Menees; one brother, Claude Buck Jr.; one sister, Jeannie Rains. She is survived by her son, Robert Menees (Kirra); one daughter, Betty Bruce Menees.
Mary loved to travel and met friends all over while traveling. She loved to cook, but also loved to eat out. The dinner table was ready every evening for dinner when the children and her husband came home. She enjoyed red wine and usually drank two glasses every night. Mary was a real lady and when she had something less than nice to say, she would say “They’ve been real accommodating, but….” Mary was a strict mother and had high expectations, but she was also very loving. Her family lived on a farm and the meals that she made were from their garden- green beans, corn and tomatoes were just a few of the many items harvested. William, Mary’s husband, built their house and they lived there since marriage. She loved children and was an “adoptive grandmother” to many. Mary often gave donations to Ronald McDonald House and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to either organization in her honor.
Visitation with the family to reflect on Mary’s life will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Arrangements by Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, A Nashville Landmark since 1785 “Where Nashville Comes to Remember”
