Ms. Mary Faith Pieratt's Obituary
Mary Faith Pieratt, age 87, passed away on November 21, 2019, in Salmon Idaho. She was born in Loma Linda, California, to Gordon and Mary Strickland on March 6, 1932. She grew up in both California and the Pacific Northwest, attending college in Walla Walla, Washington and accepting a position as a teacher with the Seventh Day Adventist Church. It was there that she met Glenn Pieratt, and after a brief courtship of only six weeks, they eloped to Reno, Nevada in 1953. They were married for almost 54 years before Glenn preceded her in death in 2007. They had traveled all over the country, but settled in Portland, Tennessee, for several years before retiring to Arizona for a time.
Mary is survived by her sister, Ruth (John) Sipkens, her sister in law, Dickie, her four children, Doyle (Kim) Pieratt, of Murfreesboro, TN, Derynda (Kevin) Davis of Portland, TN, Dealia (Eddie) Hamilton, of Salmon, OR, and Heidi (Barry Busby) Pieratt of Kissimmee, FL, ten grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
On January 18, a memorial service was held for family and friends out west in Walla Walla, Washington, then she made the trip back to Tennessee one last time.
On March 6, 2020, her birthday, at 10 am, the family will have a graveside memorial service for their beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother in the historic Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison, Tennessee, with Brother Michael A. Smith of Portland officiating. There she will be laid to rest at her husband’s side. Any friends or family that wish to join the family are welcome at the memorial service. The family kindly requests that no flowers be sent. If desired, you may make donations in her memory to Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, or the charity of your choice.
