Mrs. Mary Ruth Ray's Obituary
Mary Ruth Wain Ray, 94, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023. Born September 29, 1928, in Nashville, she was the daughter of the late Paul Ernest Wain and Ruth Horn Wain.
Mary Ruth was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was faithfully involved in serving her family and many friends throughout her life with her God-given creativity and abundant hospitality.
She loved the Lord and kept a home that centered around Christian values. She was a member of the 1946 class of East High School. Her family will remember her as being a 'fashionista' and talented seamstress. Her fabulous talents in the kitchen and southern hospitality are going to be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ira B. ‘Ike’ Ray; sister Ellen Claire Davis.
She is survived by her daughter Ellen (Mike) Hooper; son Leland (Brenda) Ray; grandchildren Brian (Rochelle) Ray, Ashley (Matthew) Spann, and Emily (Jonas) Fridrichsen; great grandchildren Jesse, Levi, Brooklyn, Avery, Amelia, Sloan, Drake, and Scout.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 4 pm until 7 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Service conducted by her grandson, Pastor Brian Ray, will take place on Friday, September 8 at 12 pm noon. The family will welcome friends and visitors one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leland Ray, Brian Ray, Lynn Ray, Mike Hooper, Matt Spann, and Jonas Fridrichsen.
