Mary Helen Sherwood Wilson's Obituary
Mary Helen Sherwood Wilson, age 89, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024. She was born on January 19, 1935, in McKenzie, TN, to the late Winnie Ivey MarchBanks Sherwood and James Harrison Sherwood.
On December 4, 1959, she entered into matrimony with Paul Lee Wilson, and together they shared a union that spanned over 49 years. Paul, a dedicated servant of our nation, retired from the US Navy after 32 years of honorable service. Sadly, he predeceased her on October 18, 2009. Their enduring love and commitment remain eternally cherished by those fortunate enough to witness the bond they shared.
A devoted homemaker, Mary Helen found joy in creating a warm and inviting home, where she especially enjoyed expressing her creativity through decorating. Her residence in Hendersonville, TN, was a testament to her love for her home and family.
Mary Helen will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Linda Simpkins, Carol Smith, Gary Farrell (Becky), Ralph Simpkins, great niece and nephew, Shannon (Nick) Matthews and Troy (Jennifer) Simpkins and sister-in-laws, Lucille Wilson Vaughn (Bobby Joe) and Betty Wilson. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, siblings Verda Mae (Bert) Farrell, James Marvin Sherwood, Marvis Christine Sherwood Gamble, Alene Sherwood Taylor, nephew Robert Newton Gamble, Jr. (Robbie), niece Patricia Jackson, and her beloved pet Beau.
A memorial service to celebrate Mary Helen's life will be held at SpringHill Funeral Home and Cemetery on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at ten o'clock in the morning with an hour of visiting prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alive Hospice.
