Mrs. Mary Ellen Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Ellen Smith, age 81 of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019. She was born on October 12, 1938 in Campaign, Tennessee to the late Robert and Ola Young. She was preceded in death by her sisters Naomi Oettinger, Virginia Turner, JoEtta Taylor, Bobbie Yates, and Ethel Jean Young. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Waldon “Sonny” Smith, her daughters Shannon Prow (Tim), Kimberly Allen (Donald), and her grandsons Caleb Prow, Ethan Prow, and Donovan Allen.
Mary Ellen was a homemaker most of her life and her family brought her more joy than anything else in the world. She adored spending time with her sisters, and she loved being a “Grancie” to her three grandsons. Anytime she got the opportunity to babysit, she was all over it. In her younger years, she very much enjoyed gardening and sewing as well.
In lieu of flowers, the Smith family has requested that donations in Mary Ellen's memory be made to the Nashville Alzheimer's Association or Madison Campus Seventh Day Adventist Church Building Fund.
A visitation will be held for Mrs. Smith on Saturday, December 28 from 1pm-3pm, with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service beginning at 3pm.
