Mary Rachel Wannebo's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Rachel Wannebo of Nashville, TN passed away September 6, 2022 after an extended illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Dennis Wannebo, son Jeff Phillips (Kathy), daughter Terri Phillips, son Michael Phillips (Jill), daughter Sandy Phillips and daughter Derrian Aversa (Patrick), along with with eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a brother Dale Rothman (Kiki) and many wonderful friends.
Mary Rachel was born August 18, 1938, the third child of Charles and Alberta Rothman. She lived with one sister and two brothers on a working farm near the northwest Ohio town of New Bavaria. She rode a school bus to Ho gate, a town about five miles away, where she attended school from the first through twelfth grades. She was a good student, but also a very social young lady. A year after graduation, she married and in the ensuing years had four beautiful children. The marriage did not last, they divorced and she met the love of her life, Dennis Wannebo.
Through the years she became known to family and friends as Rae. She is predeceased by her parents, a sister Regina Schwab, and a brother Harold Rothman. Rae loved her family, friends, and travel, She traveled near and far with both friends and family. She was also very involved in her church St. Ignatius Catholic Church. She was always ready to lend a hand. She will be missed by all.
Visitation will be at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on September 16, 2022 from 6-8pm. A celebration of life funeral service will be held on September 17, 2022 at noon at St. Ignatius. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Mary will be laid to rest at Nashville National Cemetery at a later date.
