Mary Jo came to my home with another two women for an art class. Three of us continued to meet on occasion for many years to follow. Mary Jo was full of curiosity. She asked lots of questions and remembered the answers forever. She had an adventurer's spirit in a grounded soul. She spoke so often of her 'children' and the trips together with them were the highlight of her year. She was independent and kind and had a certain stamina that I always admired. Her holiday card was always the first to arrive, so i felt, when none came this last year, that I might have seen her last. It was an honor to share time with her and the world was a better place for her presence in it. I send heartfelt condolences to her family who, I'm sure, must be facing a huge hole. We were lucky to have her while we did.
