Mattie Elizabeth Tomlin (Granny), 102, of Nashville, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022. Born July 28, 1919, in Benton County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ernie Herman Lowry and Hester Cooley Lowry.
Granny was a longtime member of Bellshire United Methodist Church. She was a loving grandmother and great grandmother who care deeply for her family. She loved crocheting afghans, working in her flower beds, crossword puzzles and avid Cincinnati Reds fan. Granny loved trips down to Florida where she always enjoyed long walks on the beach collecting shells.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James A. Tomlin; daughters Marsha Norris and Judy Dunn; sons James Rawlings, Jimmy Tomlin and Gary Tomlin; grandchildren Beth Polen, Gary Tomlin, Jr., Travis Tomlin, and Sara Jean Gibson; brother Carlton Lowry and nephew Ricky Lowry.
She is survived by a daughter, Patty Jean Tomlin; grandchildren Kimberly Benson, Kevin Norris, Gina Walker, Mike Dunn, Deena Whitt, Lisa Minters, and Tammy Tomlin; several great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Pat Rawlings; a host of nieces, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday March 23, 2022 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A graveside service officiated by Rev. James Norton will be held on Thursday, March 24 at 1 PM in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the funeral home at 12 PM noon. Pallbearers will be Jason Rowell, Troy Polen, Dallas Polen, Tony Urbanek, Jeremy Lowry, and Justin Lowry.
A huge thank you to her caregivers at Maybelle Carter Senior Living for taking such good care of her and making her feel loved during her last years.
