Maude Elizabeth Rippy's Obituary
Maude Elizabeth Merry Rippy, age 78 of Madison, TN passed away October 6, 2012. Maude was born October 22, 1933 in Nashville, TN to Horace and Annie Mai Floyd. She will be remembered for her loving and giving spirit. She loved shopping at Dillard’s and she loved to eat, especially honey buns. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan as well. She enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars and the Bachelor, always saying that her only grandson, Colby, should be on the Bachelor because “he would turn those women on their heads”. In her daughter, Debbie’s words… She was the most giving person I have ever known, she literally has given the scarf from around her neck. But most of all she loved her family and her friends. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Milton Merry and Buddy Rippy; daughter Patti Merry; twin brother, Claude Floyd; and sister, Mary Ellen Martin. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Merry (George) Carter, Nancy Merry (Robbie) Rains and Melissa Merry (Steve) Compton; brother, Charles (Helen) Floyd; grandchildren, Colby Carter, Olivia Carter Looper, Brittany Crafton, Erica Rains, Stephanie Compton and Jennifer Compton; great grandchildren, Weston Rains, Emma Compton and Sofia Katherine Looper; best friend, Lula Mai Cook and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Maude’s life will be conducted at 12 P.M., Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Roger Elliott officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Monday and from 10 A.M. until 11:45 A.M., Tuesday at Spring Hill Funeral Home.
