Mrs. Melissa Grayce Culross' Obituary
Melissa “Missi” Grayce Mansfield Culross, age 52, passed away at her home on Sunday, January 4, 2015. She was a 1980 graduate of Hendersonville High School.
Missi truly lived life with lots of love and laughter. With her irresistible smile, sparkling eyes and unmistakable giggles, she had the ability to bring contagious joy and unconditional love into any situation. As one family friend said, “I hear her laughing. Head tilted back and eyes closed.” Missi had an incredibly generous spirit and a servant’s heart. She was always serving others whatever their needs were, and willing to help out and lend a hand in any situation. More than anything, Missi lived a life of thankfulness. She cherished every gift as a treasure, every hug with sustaining life, every moment as if the first. She adored her family, and her ‘child at heart’ view of life and playful spirit allowed her to enjoy playing games and have fun spoiling her nieces and nephews with treats and sweets. Missi was also most proud of her life’s greatest accomplishments, her two sons. She was a tenderhearted mother to her boys, always listening and lending an empathetic ear to all of life’s challenges and celebrations. She deeply loved her children, constantly giving them love, encouragement, affection and bellies full of warm food, mouths full of sweet treats and eyes full of laughter. Missi was an extreme animal lover. Her “rescue” dog, TJ, was the darling of her life along with her kitties who provided her with constant companionship.
She is survived by her sons, Justin Ryan Culross and Joshua Cameron Culross; Charles Thomas “Tommy” and Linda (Plummer) Mansfield (parents); Charles “Chuck” Thomas Mansfield, Jr. (brother); Gina Terese “Teri” Mansfield (sister); Jeremy Stephen & Tiffany Mansfield (brother & sister-in-law); nephews and nieces, Bryce Mansfield (Chuck), Sydney Nichole Wilson (Teri), Micah, McKenna, and Mary Grayce Mansfield (Jeremy).
Family, friends, and others whose lives Missi touched are invited for a visitation to celebrate Missi’s life to Bluegrass Baptist Church, 235 Indian Lake Road, Hendersonville, TN, on Friday evening, January 9, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00pm, and to a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Bluegrass Baptist Church. The family will also greet friends at church on Saturday at 1:00pm until the time of service at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Missi’s name to “Celebrate Recovery” at Long Hollow Baptist Church, 3031 Long Hollow Pike
Hendersonville, TN 37075, (615) 824-4006 ext. 189.
