Mrs. Melissa Thomas' Obituary
Melissa Ann Harned Thomas, born July 21, 1954, passed away on June 29, 2016. Born in Madison, TN, to Donald and Evelyn Harned, she lived the past 35 years in the Inglewood community. A graduate of Madison High School and Carson-Newman College, she was an outstanding kindergarten teacher for 37 years at Joelton Elementary where she was named Teacher of the Year in 1985, 1989, and 1990. She was an active member of Inglewood Baptist Church and served as church pianist for many years at various churches in the Nashville area.
Melissa was a loving wife of 36 years to her husband, Richard and a devoted mother to her daughter, LeAnn.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Melissa Harned; daughter, Laura Melissa Thomas; and sister-in-law, Debbie Dickerson Harned.
Survived by her husband Richard Lee Thomas; daughter LeAnn [Jay] Blankman; Father, Donald Louis Harned; Brothers, Dale [Kathie] Harned and Kelly [Jane] Harned, as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved so much and who adored her. Her sweet spirit and kind heart will be greatly missed by family, friends, fellow teachers, and former students.

Honorary Pallbearers: the Deacons of Inglewood Baptist Church and Members of the Steve King Sunday School Class.
A celebration of life service will be held 2pm Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Inglewood Baptist Church. Visitation will be Saturday, July 2 from 3-8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service at the church.
