Melvin Ray Mulligan's Obituary
MULLIGAN, Melvin Ray; Age 81 passed away January 7, 2011 in Nashville, TN. Mr. Mulligan was born December 20, 1929 in Valley County, Nebraska, to Guy and Irma Mulligan who predeceased him;He is also predeceased by a sister, Verlee Porter.He is survived by loving wife of 43 years Arlene Johnson Mulligan; daughter, Kathleen Mulligan, San Dimas, CA; son, Barry J. Mulligan and wife Mary, Des Moines, IA; granddaughter, Rebecca Rae Mulligan, Tucson, AZ; sisters, Marjorie Benoit, Baldwinsville, NY; Charlene (Carl) Schauer, Ord, NE; and brother, Eldon G. (Sharon) Mulligan, Mesa, AZ, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Mulligan was a member of Donelson Heights United Methodist Church and coordinated Lay Witness and Discipleship Studies Missions in eight states from 1968-1974 in 23 churches. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Memphis State University. He was a Past Master of Centre Star Masonic Lodge No. 409, Free and Accepted Masons, Past Patron of Centre Star Eastern Star Chapter No. 342, a Scottish Rite Mason, an Al Menah Shriner and sang with the Charter Unit. Mr. Mulligan was a retired US Navy Veteran of the Korean War, a retired US Treasury-Internal Revenue Service Agent and Manager, and a Real Estate sales retiree. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday January 10, 2011 at 11AM in the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Kay Gray officiating.Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-8 Pm with a Masonic Service at 7PM. Burial will follow services in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. ;Active Pallbearers include family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include, Al Menah Shrine Chanters, members of Centre Star Masonic Lodge No. 409 F&AM, and Centre Star Eastern Star Chapter No. 342, members of Fellowship Class and Mens Club of Donelson Heights United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centre Star Chapter No. 342, Order of the Eastern Star c/o the Secretary, 4289 Bernard Rd, Joelton, TN 37080-8936.
