Mr. Michael Alphonse Wilyard, Jr.'s Obituary
Michael Alphonse Wilyard, Jr., age 71 of Madison, passed away May 2, 2013.
Mike was born September 28, 1941 in Clarksville, TN to Michael A., Sr. and Bernice Hirschman Wilyard.
He graduated from Clarksville High School and soon after married the former Carol Martin. He retired from Pepsi after 30 years of service. He also designed and built carwash equipment before his career with Pepsi. Mike had a green-thumb and was a jack-of-all trades, making anything grow and fixing anything that was broken. He was an avid fan of Vanderbilt athletics, especially baseball, basketball and football. He loved fishing as well and made lifelong friends in Panama City Beach, FL fishing on the pier. Above all, his family was always the center of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Thelma Davis and Helen Carpenter. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol; son, James Michael (Mary) Wilyard; daughter, Jamie Kathleen (Danny) Kowalski; sister, Mary Ann (Curtis) Long; and grandchildren, Kristina Lucas, Stella Marbut, Stephen Wilyard and Emily Kowalski.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be conducted at 1 p.M., Monday, May 6, 2013 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Roger Maness officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until the time of service, Monday at Spring Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA at PO Box 96929, Washington, DC, 20090-6929 or at donate.aspca.org.
