Mildred Irene Mooneyhan's Obituary
Mildred I. Hayes Mooneyhan, age 77 of Nashville, passed away September 13, 2012. She was born in Red Boiling Springs, TN on January 4, 1935 to Roger Milton Riddle and May Belle Rice. She grew up in Red Boiling Springs and Madison, TN. She married George Monroe Hayes on Christmas Eve in Biloxi, MS. Over the years, they lived in Madison and Indianapolis, IN. After her children had grown she worked at Shoney’s, where she made pies. A former Sunday School teacher, she was a former member of the Assembly of God in Edenwold. She enjoyed painting, dancing, fishing with her son, knitting and crocheting. She crocheted comforters for each of her children and grandchildren. Her true passion was gardening. She sometimes spent an entire day planting and replanting flowers. She loved listening to country music and most of all, Elvis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger Milton Riddle; Seldon and May Belle Hudson; her husband, George Hayes; and her brothers, Robert Lee, Donald Milton and Clifton Thomas Riddle. She is survived by her daughter, Treasia M. (Danny) Guy of Smyrna, TN; sons, Anthony (Kathy) Hayes of Greenville, NC and Jerry Nelson (Reba) Hayes, Sr. of Madison; sister, Mary Hudson Holleman; brothers, Nelson, Joseph Henry, William Roger, David Earl, Ralph Norris, Jeffrey and Ralph Norris Riddle; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 11 A.M., Saturday, September 15, 2012 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Lloyd Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery with Patrick and Andrew Guy, Jerry Nelson Hayes, Jr., Daniel Hayes, Ronnie Hayes and Jimmy Nguyen serving as pallbearers. Anthony Hayes and Jerry Nelson Hayes, Sr. will act as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
