Mrs. Mildred Pauline McWhirter's Obituary
Mildred Pauline McWhirter, age 93, of Hermitage, Tennessee, passed peacefully, in her sleep at her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Harry and Freda Naomi Russell; four sisters; one brother; beloved husband Marion (M.M.); daughers, Patricia Hunter and Nancy Carol.
Survived by her son and daughter-in-law Larry and Janet McWhirter; three grandchildren, Timi (Bill) Turnage, Zach (Carly) McWhirter and Josh (Christy) McWhirter; Sseven great-grandchildren, Brandy Turnage, James (Rachel) Turnage, Brooke McWhirter, Liam McWhirter, Owen McWhirter, Elias McWhirter and Jameson McWhirter; one great-great-grandchild Michael Turnage; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred loved music from a very early age, learning songs and guitar from her mother on the Worley farm in Hickman County, TN. She saw beauty in the clouds and the changing fall leaves and simple ordinary objects and taught herself to draw and paint. She was a faithful member of Lebanon Road Church of Christ for many years and loved to worship with the congregation.
She lived a life full of love and laughter and strength and compassion for over 93 years. She dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Visitation for Mildred will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 2 PM until 8 PM and again on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 10 AM until 11 AM at which time a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted from the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, A Nashville landmark since 1785 “Where Nashville Comes to Remember”.
