Millidean Baugus Smith's Obituary
Millidean “Dean” Smith, age 91, of Hendersonville, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents Oskar Baugus and Maude Donoho. Dean is also preceded in death by her loving husband, James D. Smith. She is survived by her daughters Belinda (Larry) Bracey, Peggy (Ken) Gaines, and Vickie (Keith) Graham; grandson Doug (Erin) Harris; great grandchildren Hannah (Jay) Pearson and Ericka Crook; and great, great grandson Simon James Pearson.
Dean grew up in Old Hickory, TN. She graduated from Dupont High School where she was a majorette in the band. She was a long-time resident of Hendersonville and member of Hendersonville Church of Christ. After her retirement from Volunteer Bank, she spent her time traveling with her beloved husband and enjoying time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. Earlier this month she became a great, great grandmother.
She spent the last ten years living at Red Cedar Glen Senior Living Community. She was proud to serve as Resident Ambassador, welcoming new residents. She loved playing cards and socializing with her friends.
She will be remembered as a Christian woman who loved her family and loved to entertain.
Funeral service will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216 on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at 2:00pm with Keith Parker officiating. Burial will immediately follow. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1st from 12pm until time of service.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and residents at Red Cedar Glen, NHC Sumner Place and Alive Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Humane Society of Sumner County.
