Mimi Ernestine Riggle Mefford's Obituary
Mimi Ernestine Riggle Mefford passed away on April 25, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father Ernest C. Riggle, mother Myrtle Tegarden Riggle and husband of 32 years, Lewis Reiner Mefford, Jr. She is survived by her cousins, Marie Claire Reiss, Louisville, KY; James R. Tegarden, Winchester, TN and Fred W. Tegarden, Middletown, OH. She was educated in Nashville Public Schools and attained a Master’s Degree from George Peabody College for Teachers. During her 35 years in education, she taught all grades from kindergarten to highschool. However, her love was elementary education. She was active in many education fields including the first Nashville educational TV station WDCN Channel 2 where she was featured in an elementary series “Learn with Me”. She was active in the Daughters of American Revolution, the Daughters of American Colonists and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was president of this honorary teaching Society for the State of Tennessee. She loved music and participated in several choral groups including Sweet Adeline’s.A celebration Of Mimi’s life will be held at Nashville National Cemetery at 2:00PM on June 5, 2012.
